In 1939 when Russian troops invaded Poland, the Russian secret police arrested an American-born priest named Walter Ciszek, S.J. No one heard about him again until 1961! Fifteen of those twenty three years were spent in Soviet Prisons and Labor Camps in Siberia. What happened to him? What did he endure? How did he survive? Was he able to function as a priest? Those and many other questions are answered in the inspiring book, With God in Russia. For the months of February and following, Saint Andrews Spiritual Reading Group will be reading this moving document followed by its companion book, He Leadeth Me. In this second book Fr. Ciszek describes the unflagging faith which enabled him to survive the ordeal that wrenched his body and spirit to near collapse.
We invite you to join us, by Zoom, on the third Thursday of the month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
