Parish Committees
Vestry
The vestry is the governing body of the church, composed of men and women elected at the parish’s annual meeting. The vestry meets approximately once a month with the rector to set policies, administer funds and oversee the operation of the church. In addition, vestry members are assigned to committees that oversee the service and fellowship activities of the church. Vestry members are elected for staggered three-year terms. The vestry includes a maximum (and norm) of 12 and a minimum of 9 qualified voters. Members generally serve 3-year terms.
The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The presiding officer of the vestry is the rector. There are usually two wardens—the senior warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the rector and the junior warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings. The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church's mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee implements the financial procedures set forth in the parish by-laws and provides general supervision over the preparation of the annual church budget and all other financial activities to ensure compliance with established procedures, subject to the advice and consent of the vestry. Committee members serve 3-year terms.
Property Committee
Under the direction of the Jr. Warden, the Property Committee provides general supervision of all activities concerning the care, insurance, and maintenance of the church grounds and properties, subject to vestry approval. Committee members serve 3-year terms.
Organ and Music Fund
The net proceeds of the funds received from the Bob Marshall Estate constitute the Organ and Music Fund. It was the intent of Bob Marshall that the fund be used to maintain the organ and to enhance the music program of St. Andrew’s and that the fund, any other fund so designated, and income be used for music purpose. The trustees of the fund serve in a fiduciary capacity and provide fund management and oversight. Committee members serve 3-year terms.
Property Maintenance Fund
The net proceeds of the funds received from the sale of the former rectory at 1801 Heights Boulevard comprise the property maintenance fund. The fund is administered by three trustees elected by members of the congregation. Trustees serve in an administrative capacity and oversee the Property Maintenance Fund at the direction of the vestry. Committee members serve 3-year terms.
Diocesan Council Delegates & Alternates
Parishioners elected as delegates to Diocesan Council attend the annual business meeting of the Diocese held every February. Delegates represent St. Andrew’s and vote on Diocesan resolutions, the annual Diocesan budget, and other matters presented on the Council floor. Alternate delegates are choses and attend Diocesan Council when one, or more, of the elected delegates is unable to attend.
